At St Elizabeth’s House, we are committed to operating responsibly and reducing our environmental impact, while continuing to deliver the high standards of hospitality our guests expect.

We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we are continually reviewing our practices to improve wherever possible.

Energy & Resource Management

  • Use of energy-efficient lighting throughout the property

  • Encouraging a “switch-off” culture among staff and guests

  • Radiators and heating systems carefully managed when rooms are unoccupied

  • Regular boiler servicing and maintenance to ensure efficiency

  • Ongoing monitoring of energy usage

Reducing Waste

  • Active recycling and waste reduction across all departments

  • Guests are welcome to take home leftover food to minimise waste

  • Kitchen team working to reduce plastic use and move towards fully recyclable packaging

  • Recycling of used cooking oils

  • Use of reusable and durable materials wherever possible

Responsible Dining

  • Use of fabric napkins to reduce disposable waste

  • Prioritising locally sourced produce wherever possible

Water Conservation

  • Introduction of an optional towel and linen reuse programme, allowing guests to reduce water and energy usage during their stay

Grounds & Biodiversity

  • Ongoing planting of trees and plants to support local wildlife

  • Maintaining our gardens in a way that encourages biodiversity

  • Providing a natural, sustainable environment for guests to enjoy

Sustainable Materials

  • Printing on FSC-certified paper where printed materials are required

  • Reducing printed materials by moving to digital alternatives where possible
